“For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him” (I Samuel 1:27). Hannah prayed and prayed for a child, her heart ached for one, she wanted one so much that she promised God to give him back to Him, in service to Him. Sometimes when God makes us wait for things we want, when we receive it is so much more sweeter. Hannah kept her promise to God and went on to have other children but Samuel was special in her heart, he was living proof that God hears and answers prayer.Brittany prayed for Alexis and her story begins.
Mother’s Love Session
“A daughter is someone you laugh with, dream with and love with all your heart” (Author Unknown). The family arrived on time to my home for their Mother’s Love session. Diaper bag, Alexis in carrier, smiles on their faces, and a Father’s glow upon his face, that has been there since little Alexis was born. Amazing is the thought that a child unbeknownst to them, is so deeply loved! We began shooting and with every wardrobe change, Daddy was there to help and make sure that she was fine but dad and mom weren’t the only ones caring for this little one, her big brother was as well. I shot my traditional shots: mommy & baby, daddy & baby, then siblings. The love for this child expressed by her family is inspiring.
When I visited them at the hospital a week before to capture Alexis 3 hours new, weighing in at 9 lbs. 14 oz. and measuring 21 inches, I was excited! I rushed home after work but I could only rush so much since earlier there had been an accident on the 210 fwy, two semis had collided and there were 3 lanes closed, I thought I would never get home but it turned out not to be as bad. I got home picked up my camera and my youngest daughter and we arrived at the hospital around 7:00 pm, and started shooting some photos; first of great-aunt holding her then Brittany’s twin sister, as she was examining her making sure all toes and fingers were there. Alexis was a sight to see, we had waited so long for her and here she was sleeping peacefully, after such an ordeal–thanks Eve–but mom and daughter were getting some well deserved rest.
This scene made me think of when I was told the news about these two expecting, after years of hoping and praying for a child. It started with a dinner invitation, when I arrived at their home the girls quickly went into the kitchen to help Brittany with dinner, I was in the living room with Everett yapping. Everett instructed Christian to change his shirt and he immediately did so. The girls were still helping in the kitchen, something drew my attention to them, I don’t remember exactly what it was but I turned around and noticed that Christian was wearing a shirt that had applique letters and I thought maybe it was something he made for school, so I started reading it quickly but my mind didn’t really get it, I read again slowly, “I’m going to be a big brother,” I gasped and looked at Brittany and asked, “Yeah?” — as if she would’ve been kidding about that, she smiled and said, “Yes!” Immediately I hugged her and cried with her, it was such an overwhelming feeling!
None of this would’ve happened if it wasn’t for two people brought together by God’s grace, amazing how He builds a story and it’s just beginning for these two. Alexis and Christian are the third generation being raised in church of this Moyer family, what an awesome responsibility and legacy! Personally, I am looking forward to seeing these two grow up and one day serving God!
Like Samuel, Christian and Alexis will be raised to “…taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him” (Psalm 34:8).
